Silicon Dioxide (SiO2)
- Description
Description
Silicon dioxide (SiO2), also known as silica, is an oxide of silicon with the chemical formula SiO2. It has other names as Quartz, Silica, Silicic oxide, Silicon(IV) oxide, Crystalline silica, Pure Silica, Silicea and Silica sand.
Silicon Dioxide has many applications as the following:
- Rubber modified sealant ceramic toughening modification, adhesives, functional fiber additive, plastic modification, paint, aging additives.
- Ceramics, nano ceramic, composite ceramic substrate.
- Polymer: can increase the thermal stability and anti-aging polymer.
- Flame retardant materials and coatings, high grinding medium, cosmetic products.
- In cluster butyl benzene and chlorinated polyethylene adding a small amount of nano SiO2 produce color rubber tenacity, elongation, strength, flexural performance and ultraviolet resistance and thermal aging performance and achieve or exceed epdm.
- High purity Silicon dioxide powder (also referred to as High grade quartz or HPG) in solar, electronics, optical, and semiconductor grades suitable for exacting requirements of emerging technologies., in the production of optical glasses, LED and fiber optics, solar panels, semiconductor diffusion barriers and fillers, thermal spray coatings, and the synthesis of ultra high purity silicon metal via Czochralski crystal growth or evaporation.
- High purity SiO2 also has applications in alloy manufacturing as a metallurgical slag additive, Pharmaceutical and cosmetics grade silica powder is also available.
- High purity SiO2 is used to to produce high purity semiconductor quartz tube, quartz rod and quartz wafer carriersto serve the productions in the semiconductor industry.
