Description

Boron Oxide, synonym: boron trioxide, boric oxide, boric anhydride, boric acid anhydride, oxo oxoboranyloxy borane, boronoxide, diboron trioxide, boron sesquioxide, is the oxide of boron with the formula B2O3. It is a colorless (white) transparent solid.
It has many important industrial applications such as an insecticide; as the starting material for the synthesis of other boron compounds; as a fluxing agent in enamels and glasses; and in mixture with 2-6% boron nitride, as a bonding agent in the hot isostatic pressing of boron nitride ceramics.
High purity Anhydrous Boron Oxide (B2O3), with purity of 99.999% min, is widely used as the liquid sealing agent for growing compound semiconductor crystals like GaAs, GaP and InP. It is also used for other applications.
